Observations/Finding

At the request of the client’s representative, our AS ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING, LLC (ASEC) representative visited the job site to visually observe the contractor’s work activities from a quality standpoint to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals and conducted QC testing per the project drawings and specifications.  The following observations were made on site:

A meeting was convened to address issues affecting the detention pond area and to discuss potential solutions. This report details the key points discussed, the engineer’s recommendations, and the agreed-upon actions.

  1. Current Condition of Detention Pond Adjacent Area
    • Assessment of the affected area, including erosion, soil stability, and structural integrity.
    • Review of previous inspections and reports by the soil technician.

    • Discussion on how the current issues are impacting the project timeline and budget.
    • Identification of immediate and long-term implications.
  3. Recommendations by ASEC Engineer
    • 2-Foot Bridge Lift:
      • The engineer recommended implementing a 2-foot bridge lift to stabilize the affected area.
    • Possible Need for Soil Cement:
      • The engineer suggested that soil cement might be needed at a later date to further reinforce the area if initial measures are insufficient.

Engineer’s Recommendations

  1. 2-Foot Bridge Lift
    • Purpose: To stabilize and elevate the affected area, preventing further erosion and improving structural integrity.
    • Materials and Methods: Detailed specifications for the materials and construction methods to be used.
  2. Soil Cement (Contingency Plan)
    • Purpose: To provide additional stabilization if the 2-foot bridge lift does not suffice.
    • Materials and Methods: Guidelines for the potential application of soil cement, including mix design and application techniques.
    • Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of the area post-lift to determine the necessity of soil cement.
