Observations/Finding

At the request of the client’s representative, our AS ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING, LLC (ASEC) representative visited the job site to observe the contractor’s work activities from a quality standpoint to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals and conducted QC testing per the project drawings and specifications.  The following observations were made:

Our representative observed the contractors used both a CAT 336 excavator and CAT 315F excavator to excavate sewer trench from MH 6.3 – 7.0 and 4.6-5.0. Contractor then used a CAT 315F to place sewer laterals and added No. 57 stone to 6 inches above pipe. A heavy-duty dump truck was used to transport GAB to the newly placed sewer lateral. Contractor added GAB and soil and compacted the trench with a walk-behind roller.

Observations:

1. Backfilling Activities:   Contractors placed backfill in sewer laterals and storm trenches. Also Added 6 inches of No. 57 stone then GAB.
2. Storm Drainpipe Installation:  Contractors inserted a sewer lateral.

Conclusion: The ongoing backfilling and storm drainpipe installation activities are progressing as planned.
