Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

• The placement and compaction of backfill for Lots #18 and 19, and inspection of reinforcing steel for retaining wall “B” continued this day.
• At the time of arrival, our representative observed that work was in progress with 1-foot lifts being placed and compacted using a 15-ton sheep-foot CP54B compactor.  Due to a light rain, nuclear density testing could not be performed.  General probing using a 3/8″ diameter probe rod and a proof-roll was performed.
• A fully loaded tandem-axled truck was used to proof-roll the above-mentioned lots with multiple passes across the area. Severe yielding and deflection was not observed during the proof-roll at all areas mentioned above.
• Prior to placement of concrete, our representative observed the placement of the reinforcing steel for retaining wall “B”.
• The reinforcing steel was observed to meet job specifications for size, spacing and quantity.
• Observed the installation of water pipe in the front of Lots #1 and 2.
