Observations/Finding

At the request of the client’s representative, our AS ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING, LLC (ASEC) representative visited the job site to observe the contractor’s work activities from a quality standpoint to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals and conducted QC testing per the project drawings and specifications.  The following observations were made on site this shift:

• A proof-roll observation was performed in the Taxiway replacement 22, phase 1B, eastern asphalt shoulder between approximate, coordinates N: 9225.29 E: 14037.31 to coordinates, N: 9305.26 E: 14017.70.
• A fully loaded water truck was used to proof-roll the above-mentioned subgrade with multiple passes across the area.

No severe yielding and/or deflection was observed during the proof-roll at all areas mentioned above. One exception was a small area, approximately 35′ x 26′ from the edge of phase 7A to 26 feet north of phase 7A.   Recommended to undercut 6 inches from the area and replace with GAB.

• Our representative along with Deion of ATLQA and the ATLNext representative Barry Miller observed the proof-roll.
• Kelly placing GAB on the east shoulder of the Taxiway for preparation of asphalt placement
• Performed density testing on GAB.
• BBH was preparing lights on the west face of the Taxiway prior to concrete placement.
• C&G preparing for concrete and placing rebar for inlet 1-4.
• Observed the placement and testing of concrete for west curb.
• Concrete observed on this date appeared to be placed in compliance with project specifications with regard to temperature, slump, air content, and batch to placement time
