Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

• Evaluate soil bearing/stability at the bottom of the excavated footings for retaining wall 7.
• The foundation excavations were observed to be excavated to the specified size and appeared to be at the proper depth based on the contractor’s layout. The foundation excavation was observed to be clear of loose soil, debris, and water.
• NOTE: The depth of the pier should reach the footing of retaining wall 6, but they did not drill it to that point. Some piers were harder to drill so they only managed to drill 2 to 3 feet. It was recommended to drill the piers that weren’t drilled to the footing to retaining wall 6. For the piers that weren’t able to be drilled to the proper depth, an RFI from engineer is required.
