Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
The assigned ASEC representative was present at the Northfields Project site to observe the ongoing remediation efforts. The previously identified area with rutting and deflection issues had been subject to the initial phases of repair.
Material Removal Volume:
Approximately 1,250 cubic feet (≈ 58.14 tons) of material was excavated from the area under observation. This area was measured at approximately 200 feet long, 5 feet wide, and had a variable depth ranging from 1 to 1.5 feet.
ACTIVITY SUMMARY:
Compaction:
The remaining subgrade was compacted using a trench roller, prior to additional placement of backfill.
Testing:
Field compaction tests were conducted as per job specifications.
Compaction Test Results:
- Test 1:
- Wet Density (WD): 105.8 pcf
- Dry Density (DD): 88.74 pcf
- Moisture Content: 24.9%
- Compaction Percentage: 90.0%
- Test 2:
- Moisture Content: 24.0%
- Dry Density (DD): 96.3 pcf
- Wet Density (WD): 120.3 pcf
- Compaction Percentage: 97.7%
Moisture-Density Relationship (Proctor) Reference:
- Maximum dry density: 98.6 pcf
- Optimum moisture: 20.2%
Soil Description:
Reddish-brown Silty SAND with a trace of clay.
Subsequent Layers:
- Non-woven Fabric:
A layer of non-woven fabric was installed over the compacted subgrade to act as a separator and stabilizer. - Stone Layer:
The fabric was overlaid with #34 Stone (3 Loads totaling 52.47 tons). - Capping with GAB:
The stone layer was capped with Graded Aggregate Base (GAB), amounting to 3 Loads or 56.35 tons.
