Observations/Finding
The undersigned ASEC representative was on-site on September 25, 2023, to visually inspect soils along the road in the northern portion of the site between Lots #103 and 26. The contractor expressed concerns about the soil becoming increasingly saturated as they progressed towards the final grade. During the evaluation, the following observations were made:
Soil Evaluation Along the Northern Road Between Lots #103 and 26
- Soil Description
– Light red-tan sandy clays.
– No groundwater was present in the soils. - Engineering Observations and Recommendations
– One test pit was excavated down to 5 feet.
– The contractor had about 35 feet of cut left before reaching the final grade.
– No groundwater was observed, suggesting that this could be a zone of perched water.
Compaction Tests Along Lots #108 to 112
Five compaction tests were conducted along Lot #108, 109, 110, 111, and 112. The elevation was approximately 733 feet. The results are as follows:
Test 1 (Lot 108):
– Moisture Content: 27.1%
– Dry Density: 80.3 pcf
– Wet Density: 102.1 pcf
– Degree of Compaction: 94.8%
Test 2 (Lot 109):
– Moisture Content: 25.9%
– Dry Density: 79.6 pcf
– Wet Density: 100.5 pcf
– Degree of Compaction: 93.9%
Test 3 (Lot 110):
– Moisture Content: 26.5%
– Dry Density: 80.1 pcf
– Wet Density: 101.6 pcf
– Degree of Compaction: 94.5%
Test 4 (Lot 111):
– Moisture Content: 27.8%
– Dry Density: 81.2 pcf
– Wet Density: 103.0 pcf
– Degree of Compaction: 95.9%
Test 5 (Lot 112):
– Moisture Content: 28.3%
– Dry Density: 82.5 pcf
– Wet Density: 105.8 pcf
– Degree of Compaction: 97.4%
