Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
The undersigned representative from ASEC was on-site, as requested by the client and/or contractor, to observe the contractor’s field activities. The visit’s focus was on the concrete placement process, cylinder sample collection following mixing but preceding placement, and a probe assessment of the footings at STA. 202+43.45.
Methodology
Visual observation techniques were employed to evaluate the work in-place for general compliance with the Project Plans, Specifications, Codes and Standards, and Material Submittals.
Concrete Placement
The integrity of the formwork and reinforcement was visually inspected and found to be in general compliance with project specifications.
Cylinder Sampling
Concrete samples were procured post-mixing and pre-placement. These samples were labeled and stored in a shaded area on-site, subsequently left under the contractor’s custody for future compressive strength testing.
Footing Probe
A probe assessment was conducted for the footings. The 3/8-inch diameter probe rod did not penetrate beyond a depth of 2 inches, which indicates satisfactory soil bearing strength.
Observations and Recommendations
Reinforcing steel appeared to be installed as to size, spacing and quantity per job specifications.
Concrete compression testing will be performed after a designated time period.
