Observations/Finding
Introduction
The undersigned ASEC representative conducted a site investigation on August 30, 2023, to assess the soils in Areas 1 and 4. The objective was to characterize the soil conditions and provide soil classification recommendations.
Topsoil Description for Area 4
The topsoil in Area 4 predominantly consisted of brown clayey sand intermixed with organic material, precisely root matter and small boulders (4′ diameter or less).
Contractor Operations for Area 4
Area 4 serves as the staging area mentioned in the previous report, with dimensions approximately 404 feet in length and 50 feet in width. The initial topsoil depth was 4 feet.
Volumetric Analysis for Area 4
- 404 ft×50 ft×4 ft=80,800 ft3
Engineering Recommendations for Area 4
It is recommended that the topsoil be excavated and utilized for landscaping topsoil within the subdivision or non-structural fill.
Soil Description for Area 1
The soil in Area 1 consisted of wet red and gray clays and muck intermixed with roots and small boulders (diameter of 4′ or less).
Contractor Operations for Area 1
Area 1 measures approximately 50 feet in width, 30 feet in length, and had an initial depth of 2.5 feet. The contractor utilized a dozer to blade 3 feet of material from the surface and relocated it to the southern boundary of the lot (in a non-structural area).
Volumetric Analysis for Area 1
- 50 ft×30 ft×2.5 ft=3,750 ft3

Recommendations for Area 4
It is recommended that the topsoil be excavated and utilized for landscaping topsoil within the subdivision or non-structural fill.
