Observations/Finding
Our representative from AS ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING, LLC (ASEC) recently conducted a site visit at your project site, as requested by your representative. The purpose of this visit was to assess the contractor’s work activities and ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and materials submittals. We also carried out quality control (QC) testing in accordance with the project drawings and specifications.
Here are the key observations made during the site visit:
- Pre-Pour Observation in Ramp 20, Phase 2:
- Our representative focused on Lane 2 and Lane 4 of Ramp 20, Phase 2 during this visit.
- The contractor had completed the placement of rebar and dowel baskets for these lanes, which were the primary areas of concern.
- Visual inspections were conducted to assess the installation and setup of these lanes. Any minor corrections that were deemed necessary were communicated to the contractor representatives for immediate attention.
- Site Cleanup and Preparation:
- The contractor demonstrated diligence in maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Loose rocks, debris, and puddles of water were removed from the base, ensuring a suitable foundation for the upcoming concrete pour.
- Rebar and Dowel Basket Evaluation:
- The rebar baskets were found to be level, straight, and properly secured in place.
- Dowel bars were observed to have epoxy coating, indicating adherence to project requirements.
- Embedment depth of dowel bars in the concrete was measured and confirmed to be at the specified depth of 15 inches.
- Pre-Pour Card Sign-Off:
- Our representative, along with representatives from ATLQA and ATLNext (Braylyn), jointly signed off on the pre-pour card. This signifies that the pre-pour observations and quality checks were completed to satisfaction.
We would like to commend the contractor for their attention to detail and commitment to meeting project specifications. It is evident that they are taking the necessary steps to ensure the quality and integrity of the work.
