Observations/Finding
Site Visit Observation Report
Date: 08-21-2023 Site: Plant Gorgas, Parrish, AL Representatives Present:
- Avinash Bandam (ASEC)
- Josh Kelly (Jackson Demolition)
Purpose of Visit: The site visit was conducted upon the request of Jackson Demolition’s representative, Josh Kelly, with the aim to monitor, verify, and document the ongoing project activities at Plant Gorgas in Parrish, AL. The visit was intended to ensure that all construction and engineering activities are conducted in general accordance with established standards and procedures.
Observations:
- Fill Material Placement:
- A total of 2,628 cubic yards of fill materials were placed for Lift 29, covering both section 2 and the commencement of the next lift in section 1.
- Section 2 Part 2 Area G7: As per drawing E720659, new fill materials were placed, following procedures specified in ITP-001 in general accordance.
- Section 1 Basement Area: The placement of new fill materials was extended, maintaining alignment with the general provisions of ITP-001.
- The designated fill area is clearly highlighted in purple on the attached drawing.
- Testing and Verification:
- The probed areas of the site underwent comprehensive testing and verification procedures:
- Section 1 Area B7 (E720661 S1 – R5) and Section 2 Area G8 (E720659 S1-R5): Three moisture density tests were conducted to evaluate moisture content and density. Additionally, a check plug test was executed to ensure compaction levels met industry standards and to verify the Proctor curve for the material used in this lift.
- The probed areas of the site underwent comprehensive testing and verification procedures:
Conclusion: The site visit confirms that the ongoing project activities are conducted in general accordance with established standards and procedures at Plant Gorgas in Parrish, AL. The careful placement and compaction of fill materials, coupled with the diligent testing and verification efforts, further fortified by the check-plug test to confirm the Proctor curve, underscore the commitment to maintaining a superior level of quality.
Recommendations: Based on the observations made during the visit, no immediate recommendations or corrective actions are required at this stage. However, it is advised to continue the vigilant monitoring of the project’s progress and to uphold the practice of regular quality assessments to continue the exemplified standards.
