Observations/Finding

Our ASEC representative arrived on site to perform a site inspection at the designated work area, located at the entrance of the Northfields neighborhood. The exact location is highlighted in Attachment A.

In accordance with the verbal instructions of Forsyth County inspectors and DOT guidelines, Wilbanks contractors executed excavation operations to a depth of 17 inches. At this depth, the presence of wet soils was noted in Areas A & B (see Attachment B).

In response to these conditions, ASEC issued a recommendation for an additional 5-inch excavation in Areas A & B to remove the saturated soils. Wilbanks contractors proceeded with the advised measure, backfilling the area with #34 stone.

Subsequent to backfilling, compaction was conducted using a vibratory roller. Eight passes were performed over the area. A 10-inch layer of GAB was installed atop the stone to fortify the area further.
