Observations/Finding

At the request of the client’s representative, our team from AS ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING, LLC (ASEC) visited the job site to oversee the contractor’s work activities from a quality perspective, ensuring compliance with project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. We also conducted quality control (QC) testing in accordance with the project drawings and specifications.

During our recent site visit, we meticulously observed and monitored the various aspects of the project, and we are pleased to report our findings to you:

1. Concrete Placement at Abutment (STA 18+40.73):
   • We observed the concrete placement for the abutment located at the end of the boardwalk (Main Line).
   • The reinforcement was thoroughly examined and found to be in general accordance with the project drawings and details B-B’ and C-C’.
   • Adequate 3-inch clearance was confirmed, as per the details, during our inspection.
2. Concrete Quality Control (QC) Testing:
   • We conducted quality control (QC) testing and observations for the concrete placed.
   • Concrete slump was measured, and it was noted to be at a satisfactory 4 inches.
   • Visual inspection verified that there were no signs of segregation in the concrete.
   • The concrete mixing process, placement, and the use of vibrators were all found to be in line with industry standards and project requirements.
   • The percentage of air in the concrete was observed to be at a commendable 1.5%.

Furthermore, we monitored and documented the installation of Helical piles on the same day. Please find detailed information and results of these observations attached in the accompanying documentation.
