Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, our AS Engineering & Consulting representative was on site to visually inspect prepared Lots #106 through 112 using probing and/or Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) testing. The inspection covered lots 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, and 112. This report outlines the observations made, potential issues identified, and recommendations for necessary remedial actions. Our representative employed a 3/8-inch rod to probe the monolithic slabs. This probing allowed for an evaluation of the soil’s stability and structural integrity. The upper 4 to 6 inches of the slab subgrade soils were found to be soft and/or loose. In addition, the ground in the area was found to be extremely rocky. It was observed that rock fragments were encountered within 8 inches to 1 foot of the surface. We recommend that approximately 6 inches of soft/loose soils be removed from the footings and replaced with #57 stone or lean concrete.
In addition, reinforcing steel for the turn-down slabs were visually inspected and found to meet job specifications for size, spacing and quantity. Additionally, it was noted that the rebar was properly tied onto chairs, ensuring its appropriate positioning.
