Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by the AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative noted above, for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services, visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. the following observations were observed on site this day.

Contractor continued backfill and compaction for Lots 402, 403,404.

upon arrival work was already in progress contractor was performing lifts, each lift being 12 inches,

The soils observed on this date did not appear to be placed in accordance with project drawings and specifications, Lift thickness was higher than recommended. The contractor was advised to reduce the thickness of the lift, Soil was brought by 2 dump trucks; spread was done by Komatsu 51 pxi and was compacted using a caterpillar 815 F.

Density testing was performed using a Troxler nuclear gauge (#3430, serial #85759). 

tests result indicated that the compacted material met project requirement of 90% of the maximum dry density obtained by the (Standard Proctor ASTM 698).

P-01 proctor- 100.4@18.6%

T1-elevation at finish grade@ lot 402, Yd 99.3 M%16.6, Compaction: 98.9 %

T2-elevation at finish grade@ lot 403, Yd 97.9 M%16.6, Compaction: 97.5 %

T3-elevation -1 foot from finish grade@ lot 404 Yd 92.1, M%17.1, Compaction: 91.7 %

T4-elevation at finish grade@ Lot 404, Yd 99.6, M%16.8, Compaction: 99.2 %
