Observations/Finding

The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today

• Volume measurements were taken of the stockpiles of organic topsoil onsite.
  • Soil Pile 1:  Width 62’, Length 117’, Height (avg) 9’. Approximate volume –   2418 cu.yds.
  • Soil Pile 2: Width 42’, Length 75’, Height (avg) 13’. Approximate volume –   1516.67 cu.yds.
  • Soil Pile 3: Width 44’, Length 93’, Height (avg) 6’. Approximate volume –    909.33 cu.yds.
• The contractor encountered ground water while digging on lot 1 (approx 5 – 6 feet below final grade) and the adjacent temporary parking pad (approx 4 feet below final grade). It was recommended that a trench be cut to accommodate a 1 to 2 feet wide x 1 foot deep french drain (57 stone or similar rock wrapped in separation/geo fabric), in such a way that the encountered ground water will drain towards the existing storm pipe at the construction entrance.
