Observations/Finding
Summary
*
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day: <strong>Footing Inspection Report</strong> <strong>Location:</strong> Future Entrance Monument, Sterlington (Off Evens Cook Road) <strong>Observations:</strong> A footing inspection was requested for the future entrance monument. Upon arrival, it was observed that rebar and #57 stone had already been placed, preventing probing. Three locations were selected for testing using the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) to determine bearing pressure. <ul> <li> <ul> <li> <ul> <li><strong>Location 1 (West Side)</strong>: <ul> <li>1st foot: 20 blows per increment (light brown silty sand)</li> <li>2nd foot: 14 blows per increment (light brown silty sand)</li> <li>3rd foot: 18 blows per increment (light brown silty sand)</li> <li>4th foot: 13 blows per increment (light brown silty sand)</li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Location 2 (Center Curvature)</strong>: <ul> <li>1st foot: 14 blows per increment (light tan silty sand)</li> <li>2nd foot: 10 blows per increment (light tan silty sand)</li> <li>3rd foot: 13 blows per increment (light tan silty sand)</li> <li>4th foot: 11 blows per increment (light tan silty sand)</li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Location 3 (Center Area)</strong>: <ul> <li>Could not be tested due to the presence of 16+ inches of #57 stone, making the area inaccessible for probing.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Rebar and Stone</strong>: Upon arrival, rebar and #57 stone were already in place, preventing initial probing at some areas.</li> <li><strong>Reinforcement Steel</strong>: The placement of reinforcing steel appeared to be consistent with the specifications provided in Sheet #LS301 titled "Hardscape Details" (dated 11-01-2023, prepared by Brunson & Company Landscape Architects).</li> <li><strong>Compaction Requirement</strong>: Based on the results of the dynamic cone penetrometer testing and the type of soil visually classified in the field, we believe that the compaction requirement, as outlined in the project drawings, appears to have been met.</li> </ul> Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments that you may have.
