Observations/Finding
Summary
*
At the request of the client’s representative, our AS ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING, LLC (ASEC) representative, Amin Azimi visited the job site to observe the contractor’s work activities from a quality standpoint to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals and conducted QC testing per the project drawings and specifications. The following observations were made on site this shift: Summary: Upon arrival at the site, with Quality Assurance (QA) personnel present, M10 sand was utilized for backfilling the storm drain at location A1. A density-moisture ratio (optimum proctor) was established, resulting in a dry density (DD) of 122.3 and a Moisture (M) content of 9.5%. Testing was conducted using a Troxler model 3430 (serial #30942). Test Results:

Test #1: Conducted approximately 2 feet east from A1. Results indicated a DD of 119.3 and M of 5.5%. This achieved 97% compaction, meeting the required 95% compaction standard.

Test #2: Carried out 10 feet west of A1, showing a DD of 116.9 and M of 4.3%. This also met the compaction standard with a result of 95%.

Equipment Used: Graded Aggregate Base (GAB) was placed in preparation for Cement Treated Base (CTB), as depicted in the attached photo. The compaction process was facilitated by a Caterpillar D6K and Ham H12I ride-on vibratory smooth drum compactor. Contractor: The backfilling and compaction were executed by Kelly Construction. Additional Notes:

Four pieces of reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) were positioned on 89 stone bedding during the onsite activities. It's worth noting that the depth of the bedding couldn't be measured.

Please feel free to reach out for any further clarifications or inquiries regarding the conducted procedures and results.
