Observations/Finding

Summary *

As requested, a representative from AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) visited the site to provide quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and material submittals. The following observations were made on-site today:
<ol>
 	<li>Contractor Sunbelt Asphalt installed a cement-treated base (soil cement) base course approximately 6 inches deep from STA 11+00 to STA 15+00.</li>
 	<li>Density tests were performed on the top of the outlet of pond #1 and the roadway between Lots #9 and #28, Lots #10 and #29, and Lots #11 and #30.</li>
 	<li>A sample of the soil cement was taken to our laboratory for further testing.</li>
 	<li>A six-inch undercut was performed in areas identified as failing in the acceleration and deceleration lanes. Approximately 18 inches of graded aggregate base (GAB) was installed in the undercut areas to bring the elevation to the proposed bottom of the asphalt. The remainder of these lanes received approximately 12 inches of GAB. Compaction efforts were monitored, and a proof roll will be performed before the asphalt is placed.</li>
