Upon request, our representative from AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) conducted a site visit to perform quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were applied to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, relevant codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made during the site visit: <ol> <li>Test excavations were carried out near Lots #39, 40, 41, 43, and 45, totaling approximately 8 test pits. Rock was encountered at various depths as illustrated in the attached drawing. Surface rock was noted in several areas in the vicinity of these excavations.</li> <li>Some of the rock encountered in the top few feet was noted to be fractured and layered. Such rock should be manageable with mechanical means such as jack hammers.</li> <li>The depth of rock encountered varied among the excavations in close proximity. Additionally, large boulders were uncovered during grading operations, indicating a potential variation in the nature of rock across the site. The observed rock appears to be pinnacled, and its distribution does not seem to cover extensive areas.</li> <li>Due to the heterogeneous nature of rock encountered, it is challenging to accurately quantify its presence on the site. Large boulders, as suggested by visual observations, may necessitate specialized equipment for effective management. The use of conventional grading equipment might be inefficient, and methods such as jackhammers or explosive charges may be required to break down the rock into smaller, manageable pieces.</li> <li>Considering the potential complexity of rock management, a detailed assessment of the cost implications for the suggested processes (jackhammers or explosive charges) is recommended. The efficiency of these methods and the manpower required should also be evaluated for an informed decision.</li> </ol> We appreciate the opportunity to provide our services on this project.
