On November 28, 2023, the undersigned ASEC representative visited the Lakeside Development site at the contractor's request. The visit focused on evaluating the subgrade soils for an excavated area in front of Lots #68 through 71, shown in blue on the attached drawing, and observing the placement of fill materials in Pod 3. <hr /> <h2>Observations</h2> <h3>Excavation Dimensions</h3> <ul> <li>The excavated area measured approximately 201 feet in length, 50 feet in width, and approximately 6-12 feet in depth.</li> </ul> <h3>Volume Calculation</h3> <ul> <li>The volume of the excavated area is calculated as follows: <ul> <li>Length: 201 feet</li> <li>Width: 50 feet</li> <li>Average Depth: 9 feet (average of 6 and 12 feet)</li> <li>Volume: <span class="math math-inline"><span class="katex"><span class="katex-mathml">201 ft×50 ft×9 ft=90,450 cubic feet </span><span class="katex-html" aria-hidden="true"><span class="base"><span class="mord">201</span><span class="mord text"><span class="mord"> ft</span></span><span class="mbin">×</span></span><span class="base"><span class="mord">50</span><span class="mord text"><span class="mord"> ft</span></span><span class="mbin">×</span></span><span class="base"><span class="mord">9</span><span class="mord text"><span class="mord"> ft</span></span><span class="mrel">=</span></span><span class="base"><span class="mord">90</span><span class="mpunct">,</span><span class="mord">450</span><span class="mord text"><span class="mord"> cubic feet</span></span></span></span></span></span></li> </ul> </li> </ul> <h3>Engineering Observations and Recommendations</h3> <ul> <li>The subgrade was probed with deflection not exceeding two inches in depth.</li> <li>The contractor was advised to further compact subgrade soils and remove any additional organic materials from the surface.</li> <li>The excavated area's soil subgrade is visually characterized by a mix of gray-brown sandy clays, interspersed with gray sandy clays, red sandy clays, and occasional rock inclusions. In contrast, the soils currently being utilized in Pod 3 predominantly consist of red sandy clays.</li> </ul> <hr /> <h2>Visual Documentation</h2> <ul> <li>Photographs of the inspected areas and the excavated site are attached for reference.</li> <li>The area of the excavated site is highlighted in blue, and the area where the topsoil materials extended into the street is indicated on the attached drawing.</li> <li>Soil placement areas are noted in red on the attached drawing.</li> </ul> We appreciate the opportunity to assist in the Lakeside Development project and ensure the highest safety and quality standards.
