Observations/Finding

Summary *

Our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative visited the Carodel Farms site to conduct quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to ensure compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on-site:
<ol>
 	<li>Installation of manhole 43: The contractor installed manhole 43 with 4 inches of #57 stone at the base before placing the manhole. The quality control representative visually inspected the installation and verified that it met the project requirements.</li>
 	<li>Installation of HDPE Pipe: Between manhole 43 and manhole 37, the contractor installed HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) pipe. Before placing the pipes, the contractor prepared the bottom with 4 inches of #57 stone and also covered the pipes with 4 inches of stone. The quality control representative visually assessed the installation and confirmed that it was executed according to the project specifications.</li>
 	<li>Backfilling Operations: The contractor placed backfill soil in detention pond 1B and backfill soil on the road between detention pond 1b and Lots #55, 49 and 105. One density test was performed in the center of the road, 3 feet below finished grade.  The testing result indicated that the compaction met project requirements of 92% of the maximum dry density obtained by the ASTM D698-12 standard method. WD=108.0, DD=88.3, m%=22.2%</li>
 	<li>Drilling Operations: Driller 1 drilled a total of 50 holes with a drilled area of 2,205 cubic feet. The hole spacing length was 7 feet by 7 feet, and the hole diameter was 4 inches. Driller 2 drilled 46 holes with a drilled area of 1568 cubic feet. The quality control representative monitored the drilling operations and confirmed that they were conducted safely and efficiently.</li>
