<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">As requested our AS Engerineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative visited the site f</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">or the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services, visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawing/specifications, </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.</span> <span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Contractor continued backfilling and compaction for Lots #421, #422, #423 and the roadway.</span> <span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Upon arrival, work was already in progress with the contractor placing and compacting lifts with a lift thickness of 24 inches.</span> <span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The soils observed on this date did not appear to be placed in accordance with project specifications. Soils were placed in too thick of lifts.</span> <span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The contractor was notified about the excessive lift thicknesses, and we recommended ach lift be placed approximately 12 inches. Soil was brought by 2 dump trucks; spreading was done by a Komatsu 51 pxi and compacted using a caterpillar 815 F.</span> <span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Density testing was performed using a Troxler nuclear gauge (#3430, serial #85759). </span> <span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Density test results indicate that the compacted materials met project specifications of 90% of the maximum dry density obtained by the (Standard Proctor ASTM 698).
