Observations/Finding
The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today
Upon arrival to the site, top soil removal across Lots 2 and 3 (using a Deere excavator and a Komatsu Articulated dump truck) had already been completed by mid morning. Approximately 1 to 2 ft of topsoil was removed from the general area and then stockpiled on lot 2. A 10′ X 10′ section in this area appeared to have deeper zones (approximately 3 to 4 feet) of organic laden material. This topsoil was in the process of being placed along the berm behind lot 3 (along Pittman rd)
The exposed areas on lot 2 and 3 was a brown silty sand with a high moisture content. A proofroll was performed on lot 2 along the excavated areas using a fully loaded Kimatsu articulated dump truck. The area showed active “pumping” and “rutting.” Ram Mogulla (AS Engineering) after another proofroll, and test pit (revealing a light brown sandy silt below current grade at approximately 2 – 3 feet) suggested a 2ft bridge lift to stabilize the subgrade. (To be performed the following day). Density testing will be conducted on the planned 12 to 16 feet of fill that will be placed in this area.
