Observations/Finding

At the request of the client’s representative, our AS ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING, LLC (ASEC) representative visited the job site to visually observe the contractor’s work activities from a quality standpoint to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals and conducted QC testing per the project drawings and specifications.  The following observations were made on site this shift:

  • A proof-roll observation was performed on the road (the curbline).
  • A fully loaded tandem-axle dump truck was used to proof-roll the above-mentioned subgrade with multiple passes.
  • No severe yielding and/or deflection was observed during the proof-roll at all areas mentioned above.
  • The placement and compaction of backfill for Lot #19 and Lot #12 continued this day.
  • At the time of arrival, our representative observed that work was in progress with 1-foot lifts being placed and compacted using a 15-ton sheeps-foot CP54B compactor.   Compaction testing was performed using a Troxler nuclear density gauge, along with general probing using a 3/8″ diameter probe rod.
  • Density test results indicate that the compacted materials generally did not meet the project requirement of 95% of the maximum dry density obtained a Standard Proctor ASTM 698.
  • We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
