Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today:
A proof-roll was performed on the decelaration lane today. Proof-roll results exhibited deflecting soils directly on top of the former drainage ditch. A 4-foot-wide section of graded aggregate base (GAB) along the deceleration lane was removed then the area was probed. Several soft areas were revealed. The deepest area was approximately 4 feet deep and 10 feet in length. A larger section was 3 feet deep inside the deceleration lane with a 2-foot-deep section both approximately 4 foot wide running along the center of the deceleration lane. All soft materials were removed and replaced with GAB.
Another 3-foot-deep section at the radius of the entrance along the outside area of the deceleration area was also removed and replaced with GAB.
All lifts were completed with a trench packer RTSC2 with watering between each lift. The deepest section (4 feet below grade) was completed first. A recommendation was made to Donnie, foreman for the Charles Pruitt Company to add water before compaction to help increase densification efforts. Results of compaction are attached in a separate report.
An inspection for A wall footing was called in by Josh the Wall crew foreman. Due to difficulties with surficial rock the footing was deemed not ready.
