Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today
Upon arrival to the site, the writer observed that work was already in progress and almost completed for the remaining creek 2 road crossing that required a soil bridge. A CAT bulldozer spread fill material brought by two CAT Dump trucks, along with a CAT 825K Landfill compactor. Density tests were performed on the fill compaction. Based on the density test results, visual observation of the material placed and random probing of the placed lifts, the fill placed was found to be acceptable and within plan specifications.
TJ Contracting (sub-contractor of CGU) continued excavation and boring of A0 to A1. Current dimensions (8feet wide, 36 feet long depth of approx 14 feet.) It was explained to the writer by Morris (CGU) that prior to the writer’s arrival, CGU added approximately 2 feet of 57 stone as bedding prior to pipe placement (verified by manual probing of the area.) It was explained to the writer that CGU was following previous recommendations on a course of action when encountering site water.
